Tabriz Carpet

One of the most important crafts in Tabriz city is carpet weaving, and in this area is world famous. Carpet weaving in Tabriz began from before the Safavid period, and is considered as one of the oldest and most famous handmade carpet in the world. Earlier, the carpets were woven with rural designs with Wate counter24, which was increased over time with the growth and prosperity of carpet and carpet waving up to 110 raj, and also became a court art. Raw materials used in carpets of Tabriz were usually made of wool or silk, which were high quality and exquisite carpets.

Tabriz has a great variety of designs and drawings in the past. These designs involves the following: a medallion design, fish design, Herati design, images (different kings, celebrities "like some Persian poets: Sadi, Hafez, Ferdowsi and Khayyam" or the court women was highly regarded).
Another design of Tabriz carpets which in the past were very welcomed by the people was Four Seasons, which has many details, and exhibits the lives of farmers in four seasons, so that, rugs are divided into four parts: spring, summer, fall and winter.
It is should be noted that many carpets with medallion design was waeven at the beginning of the sixteenth century and designs such as animals and humans and arabesques have been used, which were conducted in Tabriz carpet weaving workshop, also, Tabriz in 1364, was covered the largest number of carpet weavers and carpet looms at the time. Peak of Tabriz carpet weaving art belonged to the 12-16 century, which in the 14th century coincided with the golden age of Iranian carpets, many carpets workshops were opened. Projects at the time were a combination of smooth miniature paintings and carpet weaving, which were done by the virtuosos with unique design and color harmony. Along with the export of Persian carpets, many of these carpets were popular with foreign businessmen. Also, manufacturers then tried to knot the carpets in accordance with the tastes of the people of Europe and America, which at that time accounted for a large share in foreign markets. Over the years, artists and skilled weavers of carpets and finally have woven the carpets with fine texture and silk flowers with medallion– Corner design. The carpets with the silk warp, usually was woven with bright colors, if, in the old carpets in Tabriz, usually a tree, Paisely design, Vase design, Prayer-nich design, Hunting design, Golfarang were used.
